CookIt Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 30, 2026
Privacy is a core priority of CookIt. We neither want nor need to know anything about your personal data.
CookIt is built to keep your information on your device. All recipes, photos, favorites, preferences, and progress you create or import are stored locally on your phone or tablet. None of this leaves your device.
What stays on your device
The following data is stored only on the device where you use CookIt:
- Recipes you create, edit, or import (titles, ingredients, steps, photos, nutritional information, ratings, categories)
- Favorites and recently viewed recipes
- In-progress cooking sessions
- App preferences and settings
We have no access to this data. We do not run any servers that receive, mirror, or back it up.
When data leaves your device
Data only leaves your device in the following cases, and only when you initiate it:
- Sharing a recipe. When you tap the share button, the selected recipe is encoded into a
cookit://link and sent through whatever channel you choose (Messages, email, etc.). We have no visibility into the content or destination of these shares. - Choosing a photo from your library or taking one with the camera. The image is copied into the app’s local storage. It never reaches us.
Other than these cases, no personal data ever leaves your devices.
Premium Subscriptions
CookIt offers an optional Premium subscription. Billing is handled entirely by the App Store (Apple) or Google Play (Google). We never see your payment information. We only receive the anonymous subscription status needed to unlock Premium features on your device.
Apple’s and Google’s own privacy policies apply to the data they collect as part of these transactions:
- Apple: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
- Google: https://policies.google.com/privacy
Analytics, Tracking, and Advertising
CookIt does not include any third-party analytics SDK, tracker, advertising network, or fingerprinting tool. We do not build a profile of you. We do not show ads.
The App Store and Google Play may collect their own technical data (crash reports, install metrics) according to their policies. We do not control or have direct access to this data.
Children
CookIt is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone — children included.
Your Rights (GDPR)
Because all your data lives on your device, you are always in direct control:
- Access: open the app — everything is right there.
- Rectification: edit or delete any recipe at any time from the app.
- Erasure: uninstalling CookIt permanently deletes every piece of data the app stored.
- Portability: the share feature lets you export any recipe.
If you have a question or want to reach out about your data, write to cookit.app.contact@gmail.com.
Business Transfers
If CookIt is acquired by or merged with another entity, this policy may be updated, and the data-handling practices described here may evolve. We will notify users of any material change before it takes effect.
Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of CookIt after a change means you accept the updated policy.
